It seems most people who end up addicted to something do so for reasons other than the fact that they enjoy whatever it is that they are addicted to. In most cases, it’s an attempt to mask or eliminate some sort of underline pain like an abusive or neglectful childhood or some kind of mental or emotional problem. But are there actually instances where this isn’t the case and someone just engages in addictive behaviors because they enjoy them or have become chemical or physiologically dependent on them?
