Why is this Casey Anthony trial so huge?

I mean....the U.S. has dropped bombs on women and children in Iraq/Afghanistan and that's no big deal sh*t happens right, but this one murder trial is costing so much money? I don't get it....people die everyday and are killed every day what's the difference if it's a neglectful mom?..
