Girlfriend won't file for divorce?

If he is so toxic why would she want to continue being connected to him? Many lawyers will take a payment plan for divorce. I was in a similar situation (separated and living with my BF) while my divorce was going through. I know it bothered him as well, and I had already filed the papers. The lawyer will be able to divide any assets and set up child support which may actually help your financial situation. It is just a piece of paper, but to me she is saying that you are not worth her divorcing the husband. Divorce is hard and messy, I know, but she will be so glad once it's over with. Good luck!!
