Can someone take me seriously please?

The parents seem immature and self centered...you can't effectively raise a child and be that way. I wonder sometimes why certain people have kids at all. To be a parent you must give of yourself, time, money, effort...yes, to me your parents attitude is neglectful and a cop-out...one of the most vivid memories I have of my Mother is her showing up at the principals office and letting him have it! She told him, "My daughter is different and I don't appreciate or will I tolerate your treating her like a cog in your machine!" I never loved my Mother more than at that moment. She was my Mother, my advocate and my authority as well. She raised me with such care and love. My parents are elderly now and I gladly do things for them...it's a pleasure as they never let me down when I was growing up. I am so very very fortunate to have them both still.
