Problem with new computer?

I just bought the HP Pavilion dv7t quad core i7 notebook with 6 GB of ram and an AMD radeon 6770m 2gb graphics card. It has an option for switchable graphics so that you can use the more powerful card for gaming and the less powerful one to save power. I tried playing minecraft and I am still getting less than 30 frames per second. I tried to set it so that it uses the more powerful graphics card, but that didn't seem to make a difference. I am really confused because I have heard that this laptop is capable of handling demanging games such as crysis 2, but for some reason mine cant even handle minecraft at a decent frame rate. Any idea if what could be going on?
